old Bordergaurd News
July 1, 2010 | Our Guestbook is now working again. | | August 17, 2009 | Join us on MySpace!

Add us to your friend's list and we will randomly pick one person from our list every month who we will put into a larger pool of names that we will draw once a year for the opportunity to become our real friend. Good luck! | | August 10, 2009 | How come no one told us our site was completely dysfunctional and not working? Thanks a lot fuckers. Site fixes are now in progress... stay tuned.
- Webmastah | | August 4, 2006 | You may all like to think we're back, but we're not. We finally managed to secure a server capable of handling our unbelievable traffic and storage needs. Thanks for coming back ;) | | July 24, 2005 | After 6 years, over 100,000 hits, countless shows, a full blown riot, rumours, gossip, groupies and more spilled beer than fuckups like you will ever drink in your lives, The Borderguards have decided to call it a day. Due to unforeseen and personal reasons, it is best to stop now while still ahead. I have enjoyed my time composing and playing our music for you and thank all members of the outfit, past and present for helping bring what we had to say to fruition. In the future, if anyone thinks they can front the band and thinks they can get along with us, then there may be a possibility of something being worked out with J-Dogg and Vic, whether under this name or not. Until then, it is on with the harsh reality of families, kids, mortgages, work, school and moving on. You may see some of us in a couple of other local bands in the future, keep an eye out for future compilations with Borderguards songs on them and dont forget to sign the guestbook to say hello and goodbye to the group. For now or forever? We do not know.
Regards

These have just been put up within the last few days and of course, are the results of our glorious, historical return to the recording studio.
These versions do not sound as good { by accident ;) } as what we actually have on CD and you cannot download them { once again, by accident ;) }but it gives you an excellent idea as what to expect on the upcoming album.
Special thanks goes out tothe following for their involement:
Casey Lewis for his craftsmanship and innovation. Always a great guy and all musicians reading this should go to Casey when they go to record. He will not steer you wrong. ACCEPT NO OTHER SUBSTITUTES!!!!!
The Royal Canadian Pierre Elliot Trudeau Goon Society Choir for the loan of their lungs on back up vox.
We hope that you all enjoy the new songs. Cheers!!!!! | | December 9, 2004 | Rick, your ever loyal Borderguards website moderator has added some special Christmas effects to the site for your viewing pleasure. We are very pleased to announce that Peter Mcleod of No Coast Hardcore fame will be joining the ranks for the street rock version of Depeche Modes "Enjoy The Silence" with our man, The Stogie. music and culture and will occur sometime very early in the new year. You can look here for the official documentation as this project slowly comes together.....
In the meantime, as a sampler of what the 'Guards have been up to,
we are pleased to announce that you can NOW FINALLY

Just go to the music section and look for the link to the mp3. | | November 15, 2004 | We are very glad to announce that the Shots For Tots show was a grand success. The last we heard, the girls were sitting at about $900 and STILL had to collect money from the Den and Megatunes. We would like to thank the bands for helping us to help a few good kids out on the other side of the planet. All the bands gave stellar performances and the show ran very smoothly and close to the schedule we had planned out. We hope that the others who were involved are as proud as us for this accomplishment. Stay tuned for upcoming news and further dialogue concerning The Borderguards historical return to the recording arena. We have a few suprises in store for you. | | November 12, 2004 | A very recent interview at the University of Calgary with the Gauntlet newpaper can be found by clicking here.
The interview deals largely with The Shots For Tots charity show and a bit of the bands history and what we are up to as well. Nevermind the bad pic..... ;)
As always, click on the Shots For Tots charity show link to the right of you and get ready for some major rock n roll action this weekend as The Borderguards and The Von Zippers are united at last with others to combat that evil 4th Horseman of the apocalypse Pestilence at the Mosh For Malaria Shots for Tots show.
NOTE: The Shots For Tots show has been moved to the Den just downstairs from the Black Lounge where it was originally designated to take place. | | November 6, 2004 | The Borderguards begin the first of many treks into the recording studio. We have recorded the first 5 of a long list of songs
(including the official toques & flannel street rock version of Oh Canada!) for a split with local heros No Coast Hardcore and new projects in the works. The band has not been in the studio for over 4 years. Look for samples of this endeavor to be posted in some audio form here in future days.
We would like to thank Casey Lewis for his services at this time and we are anxious for all of you to hear the results of our work with him. Casey Lewis has helped make the new numbers shine beyond our expectations and we are thankful for his innovation and creative input. He truly is a master at his craft. Good one Casey.

The Shots for Tots charity show. Click here for the poster, show information and the official Borderguards thank you list.
Sorry its taken so long to update the NEWS section. I have been busy with new lay-offs, new employment, waging old feuds, masterminding new ones, getting rid of old dates to make room for new dates, new songs, keeping that goddamn new drummer Ollie in line when he is drinking whiskey and the new upcoming "Shots for Tots Fundraiser" show which I was asked to help organize by Dominika Kozlowski and some of her fellow students from the U of C medical faculty. We finally have it organized and you can read more about it by clicking on the above link to our shows section.
I would like to send a big thank you to Dominika Kozlowski and Karla as well as the rest of the Shots Fot Tots Committee for having me involved in this project....
It makes me Irish-ish eyes smile and me glorious Scot-ish/Cree-ish bio-mechanical heart go all a glow....
"Still Loyal: The Borderguards Biography":
I might also like to add at this time that there has recently been some movement in the area of compiling and writing for the upcoming band history. This will come to you in the form of a new addition to the site. This will take some work and some time. Please be patient and understand that I have many hours of legal meetings and conference calling via telephone between the respective Borderguard mansions before it will be complete. Every single detail, no matter how minute, must be cleared with our man, The Stogie, before we can commit anything to the public record. Please keep your eye out for it in coming weeks here at borderguards.com. We are officially very excited with the prospect of presenting it to you at some point.
I am at work and the boss is giving me dirty looks as I type this up, guess I should be "working" or something.
Enjoying a good cup of shut the fuck up
